Reduce avoidable electrical stress - with evidence for the asset and mechanism

Voltage, current, harmonics, temperature, switching events, loading and environment can all influence equipment condition. Voltage optimisation can address selected voltage-related mechanisms, but asset-life or maintenance claims require more than a plausible theory.

Potential pathways
  • Resistive or magnetic loads may experience changed thermal loading when voltage changes.
  • A regulated supply may reduce exposure to sustained elevated voltage or wide variation within the designed control range.
  • Lower current may reduce selected upstream losses where power also falls.
  • Some optimiser topologies may influence measured harmonic current or voltage; performance must be demonstrated for the actual system.
What VO is not

VO is not a substitute for surge protection, harmonic filtering, power-factor correction, maintenance, thermal management or equipment replacement unless the selected system is explicitly designed and tested for that function.

Evidence for an asset claim

Define the affected asset population, failure mechanism, baseline period, maintenance practice, operating conditions and outcome measure. Treat future-life benefits as uncertain until supported by failure, maintenance or condition data over an appropriate period.
